Transport). Between 2021 and 2025, transport companies received on average \u20ac350\u2013400 million less per year than was necessary to offset the increase in costs, accumulating a total loss of more than \u20ac1.5 billion.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1815\" height=\"2560\" associations \u2013 Agens, ANAV, and Asstra \u2013 have repeatedly denounced this imbalance, calling for urgent action to ensure the economic sustainability of local public transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Data and methodology<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The analysis compares the National Transport Fund for the period 2021\u20132025 with the value it should have reached in order to maintain constant purchasing power, calculated using the F.O.I. Transport index. However, this trend does not offset the price increases recorded in the sector over the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The overall increase in the FNT over the five-year period is <strong>+9,5%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cumulative inflation in the transport sector reaches <strong>+15,4%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This results in a gradual deterioration of the Fund's purchasing power. Each year, the FNT grows less than inflation, leading to a growing gap between available resources and actual costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The inflation-adjusted FNT represents the value that the Fund would have had to reach in order to maintain its purchasing power unchanged.\nExample:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">In 2023, the actual FNT amounts to \u20ac5,054,129.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">But the amount needed to cover inflation would have been \u20ac5,549,751.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">The deviation is over \u20ac495,000 (-9.4%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The cumulative result for the last five years is a total loss of \u20ac1.5 billion, compared to the amount needed to fully cover inflation over the five-year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This gap represents a structural problem, as the FNT is the main source of funding for local public transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>The context: stagnant wages and frozen contracts<\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the unfavorable dynamics of the FNT, there is also the effect of delays in contract renewals over the last twenty years, which have resulted in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Salary stagnation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>loss of purchasing power for workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>need for more resources to clear the backlog when renewals are unblocked<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>These resources must necessarily be obtained through a structural adjustment of the FNT.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requests from trade associations<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The trade associations Agens, ANAV, and Asstra are calling for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Structural adjustment of the FNT to sector inflation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Automatic indexing of the Fundx<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recognition of the costs of ecological transition<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Additional resources for contract renewals and staffing requirements<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Multi-year stability in financing<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Without immediate intervention, there is a risk of the system becoming increasingly fragile: fewer journeys, difficulties in planning investments, and increasingly critical working conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left translation-block\">Conclusion<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">The analysis clearly shows that the National Transport Fund has not kept pace with inflation in recent years and has lost real value.
