into force on 5 April. According to the calculation mechanism adopted by the White House, the duty percentages were determined as half of the trade deficit between the US and various countries, calculated on the value of total imports.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Tariffs varied considerably depending on the country of origin. The highest duty was imposed on China (54%), followed by Cambodia (49%), Laos (48%), Madagascar (47%), Vietnam (46%), Sri Lanka and Myanmar (44%). High duties are then observed for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Thailand<\/strong> (36%),&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Serbia<\/strong> and <strong>Botswana<\/strong> (37%),&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India<\/strong> (26%),&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>South korea<\/strong> (25%), and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Japan<\/strong> (24%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">A large number of countries will receive a uniform 10% duty, including the United Kingdom (UK), Brazil, Singapore, Chile, Australia, Turkey, Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, and Morocco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Honduras is the only country with no duties (0%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1078\" height=\"1446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.basco-t.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/tab1-eng-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3677\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.basco-t.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/tab1-eng-scaled.jpg 1850w, https:\/\/www.basco-t.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/tab1-eng-1280x1771.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.basco-t.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/tab1-eng-980x1356.jpg 980w, https:\/\/www.basco-t.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/tab1-eng-480x664.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1078px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-90d5469d94dc74c57ac09e0f7e8d0257\"><em>Data <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.it\/mondo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TodayMondo<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Separately, the automotive sector is affected by a fixed 25% tariff on all foreign vehicle imports, with specific effects on major exporters such as Japan, South Korea and the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">These tariff measures have potential direct effects on the bus production chain, whose material composition is largely based on steel and aluminium. In fact, the structure of a bus consists of 40% structural steel and 25% aluminium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With regard to the structural steel, the <strong>China<\/strong> is the main producer in the world with a share of <strong>50%<\/strong>followed by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>India<\/strong> (7%),&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Japan<\/strong> (6%)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>United States<\/strong> (5%).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Aluminum, used in many structural components is also dominated by chinese production (<strong>45%<\/strong>), with <strong>Russia<\/strong> (10%) and <strong>Canada<\/strong> (9%) among the major exporters. The <strong>United States<\/strong>while producing aluminium, are heavily dependent on imports to cover domestic demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Other materials used in the construction of buses are also influenced by the global production distribution: glass fibre (15% of the total weight) sees the United States in the lead (35%), followed by China (30%) and Japan (10%), with Germany (7%) and France (5%) also contributing significantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Reinforced plastic, which accounts for 10 per cent, is mainly produced in Germany (30 per cent), the United States (25 per cent), Japan (15 per cent) and China (10 per cent).
